October 2020 Update: The PTBi-EA Team is grateful to have received so many hats from such a dedicated community of knitters! If you have hats you have already knitted, please send them to the following address: c/o Tiny Hats for Tiny Babies, 550 16th Street, 3rd floor, San Francisco, CA 94158.
Unfortunately, given the Covid-19 pandemic, travel restrictions and current difficulties with shipping items abroad, we are no longer requesting additional hats.

2018 Campaign
Tragically, each year across the world, 1 million preterm babies die within their first 28 days. Unable to regulate their temperatures, they are vulnerable to hypothermia and even death. Fortunately, you can help. Tiny hats are an easy solution; they give tiny babies a fighting chance!
Tiny Hats for Tiny Babies™ is a global campaign raising awareness about neonatal mortality and providing handmade hats to newborns in countries where resources are low and need is high. In 2017, knitters and crocheters from Canada, Kenya, the Netherlands, Nigeria, Rwanda, and 45 states across the US contributed 17,000 hats.
This year, to mark World Prematurity Day on November 17, 2018, please help us exceed our goal of 17,000 baby hats!
The 2018 packet includes hat patterns, information on where to send completed hats and donation information. For questions about Tiny Hats for Tiny babies, email us at [email protected].
2017 Campaign
In September 2017, PTBi-EA partnered with the Warm Up America! Foundation to collect tiny hats for tiny babies. We began with a goal of 1,117 hats to mark World Prematurity Day on 11.17.17. The response from knitters and crocheters around the world was truly amazing. Contributions came in from six countries (including 45 US states). We collected 16,000 handmade tiny hats. Those hats are now keeping the tiny heads of tiny babies in Africa warm. To learn more about our 2017 campaign, view our photo story and video below.
